Erin Lale

As a teen Lale was a licensed small farmer in Sonoma, California, where her mother was a public school teacher, her Native American father was disabled, and her older brother operated a martial arts school from the family home. She received a B.A. in Soviet Political Analysis from UC-Santa Cruz, where she survived the Loma Prieta earthquake, and was the valedictorian.

Lale moved to Las Vegas in 1995 to open The Science Fiction Store, but health problems forced her to close the business. Lale served for several years on the Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health and Mental Hygiene Advisory Board, to which she was appointed due to advocacy on issues for rape victims and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

After Lale and her retired mother moved together to Henderson, NV, Lale was the first Chairman of City Lights Artists’ Co-op, organizing a group of 200 artists into a 501c3 nonprofit with its own gallery in downtown Henderson in 6 months. She founded her online store, Magicalrealist Gallery, where she has sold her art and writing since 2002, simultaneously holding regular jobs until June of 2009, when her job as a techsupport rep ended. Since then she has been struggling to keep her business open in this terrible economic situation, so when she learned of government's plans to further depress the economy with tax increases and even bigger government, Lale decided to run for office.
